THE ART OF MEL CASIPIT

I had been contacted by my long FB friend to do a chef commission. I was hesitant at first as the Komikon 2012 is fast approaching, but I accepted it anyway. I really missed drawing caricatures its been a while since I last drew one. I was happy with the result as well the person who did the commission. I hope the persons I made the caricature for also loved their caricature. Looking forward for more caricatures in the future. These caricatures where done in the month of October of 2012. 

Just recently I was able to try out using paint tool sai, I wanted to practice making artworks digitally. You see I had always been traditional, but you can't escape change, so I did. These artworks are part of my love illustration collection sketches done last quarter of 2011. I did those drawings as a past time, and emotional diversion. At that time I was really depressed and heart broken (a bit :)) so I envisioned love couples and so I drew. A lot of people love those sketches when I post them on FB so I continued doing those sketches even though I'm already over the emotional stress.

Komikon Indieket. The First Komikon Grand  Independent Komiks Market 2012. Held at  Bayanihan Center, Pasig city last July 14, 2012. Habang fresh pa ang alala, nais kong magblog sa  event na ito. Noong malaman ko na may Indieket  agad akong gumawa ng bagong issue ng Mukat yun  yung issue no. 6. Balak ko kasi talagang maglabas  ng bagong Issue ng Mukat sa bawat convention na  pupuntahan ko. Ayun na nga, gumising ako ng  maaga para event na Indie sa araw ng Hulyo 14,  mga 8:00 kahit medyo late na akong natulog maaga  pa rin akong nagising siguro dahil sa excitement. Dumating ako sa Bayanihan center ng mga 9:15am, dahil wala pa sila Aaron at Wan kape-kape muna ako sa Jollibee, sorry di ako mahilig sa starbucks hehe. Pagbukas ng event ng 10am kasama kong pumasok sa loob ng Bayanihan center si Kai at dumiretso kami sa table ng Neverheard Webcomics. It has been a very busy week,  a lot of things to do, I don't want to detail it, I just want to share hehe. I can handle it anyway, all it is, is about time management. I was able to finish a couple caricature for Joy Ann and was able to start drawing a commission illustrations.  Please come and join us this saturday July 14, 2012 at the very first Independent Comics market in in Philippines the Komikon Indieket, organised by the ever so supportive Komikon inc. Two new caricatures Finished this last couple of days. These were my promised caricature for my 2 friends. Hope they'll love it. :) Done on illustration board using markers, color pencils and pens. 

These are the 2 new caricature I did in the past couple of days. I used illustration board, marker and pens and a gray marker. Commissioned by a friend for her clients. I hope they 'll like it.

This will be the cover of the latest Mukat installment! I'm very excited to release this issue! the Cover will introduce 2 new characters hence the cover. This July 14, 2012 catch me together with my fellow comics artist's/creators to showcase the Pinoy Komiks very much alive!

Last june 15-17, ToyCon 2012 was held. Me and my comics was able to attend such great event at the Megatrade Hall 1-2. I was so happy when I received an invite to join the artist alley! I'm really honored. Thanks Sherry(of Komikon Inc.) There was really a huge crowd! A lot of cosplayer, fans and enthusiasts were present. On the table I was able to join my fellow comics artists and the Komikon Inc group, we really had a great time. We attended the event for 2 days, june 16th and 17th. Comics sales was good, we also did a lot of sketching, I made 4 fanarts,Batman, Luffy, Deja Thoris and the character from Jon Zamar's Dakila, I was also commissioned to do caricatures for some attendee's, It really makes me smile when I hear comment like "uy kamukha ko nga!" after I hand them over their caricatures, I did 4 caricatures.
